Daauw is an ongoing project by visual artist Arlette Beerenfenger
and theatre-maker/actress Judith Sleddens.
At the heart of the project lies the teachings of the Tao
and an investigation into mystic means;
into the space in which elements collide,
intangible and all-encompassing.
We are constantly searching for a balance, a middle.
But what can we find there? And does it exist?
And if it does, how much space does it need?
Collective, individual. Water, fire. Noise, attention.
Which of these are we experiencing one too many?
Or the opposite? And how can we amend this?
What belongs to what?
Is there an 'individual’ or 'collective’ anyway:
aren’t they precisely the same? Can one exist without the other?
Daauw exists of spatial installations and performances,
in which the boundary between viewer and maker disappears.
Each time in a different location and form, ever-developing.
Because the search never ends…

Het uitgangspunt is de leer van de Tao
en het onderzoek naar het mystieke midden;
naar de ruimte waar de elementen elkaar raken,
ongrijpbaar en allesomvattend.
Steeds zoeken wij naar een balans, een midden.
Maar wat is daar? En bestaat dit?
En als het al bestaat, hoeveel ruimte neemt dit in?
Collectief, individu. Water, vuur. Ruis, aandacht.
Waarvan ervaren wij een te veel? Of een te weinig?
En hoe trekken we dit recht? En wat hoort bij wat?
Is er wel een ‘indivu’ en een ‘collectief’:
is individu en collectief niet hetzelfde?
Kan het een bestaan zonder het ander?
Daauw uit zich in ruimtelijke installaties en performances,
waar de grens tussen bezoeker en maker wegvaagt.
Steeds op een andere plek, steeds in een nieuwe vorm.
Door-ontwikkelend. Want de zoektocht houdt nooit op..
